I decided that i was going to install Whelen A600-PG-PR combined nav / position strobes as seen in the following images.

I first made a plywood template identical to the base of the strobe head. This was then used to draw around on the centre line of the wing tip. This area of the wing tip was then removed and the plywood template was wrapped in Clingfilm and placed back in to the opening and taped in to position

Working from the inside of the wing tip the plywood insert was floxed around to make a smooth edge and then 4 layers of ply was glassed over the whole area.

After curing the plywood template was removed to leave a mounting rebate to locate the strobe head. The rebate was then modified to take the strobe head, and corner anchor nuts were used to mount the strobe head to the wing tip.
